Yesterday I was describing—in a comment for Mark—one of Carolyn's fine breakfasts and for some reason I became very hungry; the photo explains what happened next.  On the over-sized diet-busting plate I see scrambled eggs surrounded by sweetened grits with butter (yes, we put sugar on our grits, y'all), fried taters, a hunk of concord grape jelly, a slice of the big, bronze-looking mater that Carolyn grew, bacon, and dry toast; she said it was too hot to turn the oven on for biscuits or buttered toast and if I didn't like it, I could stand in the kitchen and make my own breakfast. I already had coffee, so I got a glass of cranberry juice. I need to have a talk with her about the back-sassing!

I had to eat breakfast at my desk; we don't even have a dining table. Since we moved here in 1994, she has had three dining sets and the last one I bought for her as a gift; she sold it in a yard sale last summer, thinking she would soon get another. Why did she sell it? She was tired of the color! I hardened my heart thus we still do not have a place to gather and eat. Before you give me too much hell, I have eased up a bit and she is shopping for a new set; I'm really just a softie and besides, I'm getting tired of removing crumbs and degreasing my pc keyboard and mouse.

I will write more later ... if I can think of anything. I'm hungry again.

Happy Fiday!

Fortunately, there are very warm days in Warsaw, so I don't feel hungry.
Today I bought a salad when I was in my office, and I ate only half of it. It was with special kind of mayonnaise which caused my liver troubles. I like a lot your breakfast, Ken. It isn't too big portion, in my opinion. Breakfasts should be a bit filling.

I wonder what was bad in colour of this sold dining set. We (me and D.) have had the same dining table since 1993. It's black and I cover it with different tablecloths. My last new tablecloth - really beautiful - I bought in Crete.

Have a nice family weekend, my Looose Laces Friends. xo

I have a difficult time with salads; I stay hungry even after eating them. I hardly use dressing; sometimes a dollop of mayo.

The sold dinning set was white, and it was bit large for our limited space. I hope the new one isn't as big; it is one of the counter-height kind. It is dark in color.

Have a pretty weekend, my friend. :-)

Gotta love a sassy woman, I'm pretty sure Mike does!
Our kitchen table doesn't have matching chairs and belonged to Mike's parents for many years and was the childhood kitchen table for him. He wouldn't part with it for nothin and I don't mind. I can cut on it, drop the hot glue gun on it, make bread and pasta and set up my sewing machine on it. Mike and Cody have worked on countless projects on it with slight burn marks to show. Kitchen tables tell a story for sure.

That looks like a good breakfast. I make a mean biscuit but agree, it is too hot jack up the oven for biscuits.
Mike has the smoker going today and smoked a turkey and a pork shoulder. All the fixins are ready and I'm waiting for my family.
Happy Friday.

Ditto on the sassy.

I like furniture that looks like it has been lived on and in. It is a big part of being "at home".

A lot of people seem to believe that a pig consists of sausage, bacon, and ham, but when we used to kill hogs, the shoulders were as important as anything else.

Have a good Holiday, Tammy and family. :-)

LOL, good post. Perfect breakfast.

As for Tammy and Mike's kitchen table it would be odd if they replaced it at this point.

It has seen a whole bunch. i seem to remember it being completely covered with Jack Daniels bottles at on time in its its storied life.
