Connected

Rossville with Lookout Mt. in background
Saturday Carolyn brought home a new cell phone for me to use; my five-year-old one was comfortable but the antenna was cracked and excessive humidity in the air made it all but useless. I spent most of yesterday learning to use some of the 'features" of the new one. It is much heavier and larger than my old flip-style unit, it did not come with a car charger as did the old LG, and it has no belt clip so that I can attach it to my pants pocket and that is a problem as I am notorious for stuff flying out of my shirt pocket when I lean over. Since my little Olympus camera hit the concrete from my carelessness, I have been more aware of the problem. I need to check online for some kind of case that has a clip. My old phone did not have a camera, but the new on is supposed to have a decent one that also does video. It also can be used as a Kindle book reader and the first thing I did was download 12 books from Amazon. Most I have read before but a couple of them are favorites, and at $.99 for the dozen, I didn't go wrong.

Have a great worsh day!

She knows you love all these high-tech things. She is wonderful. :-)

Thanks, Jola.
Carolyn is a good woman and when she buys these things, I feel I must at least try to use them. It is actually for her business, but I may try to make a photo with it.:-)

I forgot to add that I like a composition of the photo above; especially its composition.

Let us know how you like the Kindle. I saw lots of people using them on the plane when we went to CT. Tell me if you miss the smell of a book, the way it feels under your hands, the old stains from Cheetos, feathers, love notes, pressed flowers, and other mementos stuck in the worn pages of your old friend..... These things I will miss of my books.
We can get you a stylish safety pin for your pocket to keep all your necessities tucked in well.

Hi Tammy,

I've had similar Kindle software from Amazon on my pc for nearly a year, and mostly used it for reading "free" classics. Can't do the stuff you mentioned with the smart phone and I do miss the the other things but, I see it as much like you would have changing from a typewriter, stuffing envelopes, and sticking stamps to the convenience of a pc. Can you read your paper books in the dark? Can you read your paper books in the dark while soft background music plays? When your eyes are tired, will your paper book read aloud to you? Can you carry all your paper books with you where ever you go and have instant access to them? Hopefully these things will never replace our paper books, although some Georgia pine trees may wish differently.

Good idea on the stylish safety pin, but with my crooked fingers and huge, gnarly knuckles. I can't put my hands in my pants pockets. You won't believe the things I have to stuff in my shirt pocket.
Take a look at this link:

That photo was made 8 years ago and it has gotten somewhat worse.

Thanks, my friend. :-)

I know lots of good things come from the Kindle and I am glad folks are using it. Your points are all well taken. No matter how one chooses to read it is the READING part that is important. I didn't want an Ipod at first but now I don't go anywhere without it.
My grandmother once pinned my Uncle's ear to his hat (by accident) with one of those large safety pins. I think she was trying to pin it to his collar. What a story that is!. We certainly don't want to pin your shirt pocket to your nipple!

LOL! Heaven forbid the pierced nipple for me!

I wish you and others would tell us some of your family adventures; you can use my blog to do so if you desire.

Thanks, Tammy.

You need a man purse for your crap.
My phone is always in my pocket.
I do not like wearing it on my belt.

I should be getting a case to protect mine from one of my vendors. I'll let you know how it is. Check out dutysmith.com and see what you think. My cost is $15.00. List is $34.95. They are coming out with the droid's case any day now. They seem to be pretty decent.

I really don't carry much; I keep my wallet in my front pocket because I hardly ever use it and I carry my nose spray in my shirt pocket like any other nerd does and I carry my lens cap there when I am shooting. I get in a hurry sometimes and try to cram spray, camera, keys, and phone all at once. The new phone eliminates the need for a small camera.

I don't like to wear my phone on my belt either, but I do clip it to my pants pocket; outside if I am away from people and clipped inside the pocket if there are a lot of strangers around.

That looks like a good holster on the site and $34.95 isn't bad for a quality item.

This place has a lot of X accessories, too:
