Drove to Elizabethton and on through Stoney Creek to the high mountain area called Shady Valley. A most lovely place surrounded by mountains and natural beauty. There are orchards, along with small farms and cranberry bogs. The last time I was there was in the early '90s, when I took my mom on a quest for Winesap apples.
We turned west toward Bristol—a route I'd never taken—and I believe this was the first time I ever got seasick while driving. Crookedest mountain road I've ever traveled! We turned into Little Oak campground, where I got a few photos of South Holston lake. We are considering purchasing a small camper of some sort next year, so campground inspection on our little journeys has become a habit.
