Jabbering

Petals

The pink undies are back in the clothes basket awaiting the washing machine and some bleach. It all was such a traumatic event for and old person to endure. Actually, I didn't care one way or another, but I cannot imagine wearing them for a moment when I was young and macho. Seasons change ...

We drove over to Fall Branch again last evening so Carolyn could clean the branch bank there, and I hit the back roads while she was doing such. Even with the 50mm f/1.4 lens, the light was just not sufficient for handheld photos. We left there and drove to the Boones Creek bank where I was able to get a couple shots, but nothing interesting. I was wearing my pinkies!

Has anyone April Fooled you today? So far I have had no problems, but the day is young.

Anyone want to buy my share of GM or Chrysler? Will it come down to Ford being the last of the old American auto makers? How much longer can that company hold out? I suppose the only thing keeping the Blue Oval in business is their alliance with Mazda. Some of Ford's other foreign subsidiaries are Jaguar, Volvo, Aston Martin, and Land Rover, plus they build and market cars under their own name in several other countries. Building and depending on sales of large SUV's for many years in the US has hurt the Big Three companies more than anything, because they have failed miserably in designing fuel efficient vehicles that people will now buy. The 2002 Escape we drive has been a good car so far. We bought it used in 2005 and have had only one minor problem; and I am knocking on wood again. It has a Mazda designed engine that was first produced in the mid-eithties. It is a V6 with dual overhead cams driven by a chain instead of a belt. They also use a version of it in the Jaguar, and probably in other makes.

I have gotten serious about income tax preparation now; I've spent the entire morning working on the hateful forms, and am about half finished. I was so hoping Carolyn would retire and quit the business before this year; but she is postponing the inevitable until whenever. There is no way her health will allow her to go until she is 65.

It seems Ford will be ok. They actually are doing ok in the overseas market. If I needed to buy a car today I would have no problem buying American. GM will survive in some form, not so sure about Chrysler. However if they both happened to fail I suspect some models would end up becoming Fords or some other brand. I also think getting them repaired would no be an issue overall. Maybe there would trouble for a short time, but not too long.

I agree with you, Mark.

I've never owned a car or truck built by a foreign owned company, and the only reason for that is to help keep as many union jobs in America as possible. But, times change ...
