March Madness

I wonder why the rest of the world says that we Americans are "wasteful"?

It is cold and rainy today in East Tennessee. They say we were 2" (50mm) below normal precipitation for February, so I suppose the drought is not over. I just hope it doesn't become as severe as last summer's dryness.

Associated Press is reporting that Russia may be considering placing long range strategic bombers in the Western Hemisphere, namely in Cuba and Venezuela. It will be interesting to see how our new president handles this threat to Western sovereignty. My opinion; we should normalize relations with Cuba and that should end that part of it, and telling Little Hitler in South America to "back off or else" should take care of the other part. As for Russia, crazy people ran that aggressive, tyrant state for more than seven decades and they and their disciples are still lurking about; they must be carefully watched by any nation whom loves its freedom. For the United States, we must show the world we have a a real leader as president and that the days of the Six-gun Texas Doofus are over.

It was this weekend in 1993 when the "blizzard of the century" hit us.
It was one year ago this weekend when my heart went haywire.

Doc says I have bronchitis and pneumonia. Am taking pills. I still feel very bad, and my back hurts. Back to bed for me ...

Russia has still imperial ambitions? OMG, funny and grotesque. Country people live there in such poor conditions. Women in Russia are so warm, wise; men have problems with alcohol. It’s not easy to describe Russia.

You are taking pills, so I hope you will be better soon. Have a nice Sunday, Ken.

The conditions you describe in Russia seem to be the same ones present previous to the revolution of 1917; the extremely wealthy and the extremely poor. Desperate people sometimes do desperate things. I do fear Russia's capabilities.

Thanks, Jola. This stuff takes a little time to get rid of.

Young people in Russia are not desperate, Ken. They are usually well educated and they want to live in comfortable conditions. Of course Russian democracy is very specific, I know, but please, Ken, don’t be afraid of Russia.

Of course Germany and France shouldn’t be naive in their thinking about this country. Russia respect only strong negotiators. Polish man – Zbigniew BrzeziƄski – is partly an adviser of Obama in these matters concerning Eastern Europe. He is reasonable person.

We, Poles, had very bad experiences with Russia, but having all these fears in our soul we try to be reasonable, too.

Take care for yourself, my friend. :-)

Well we should have been friends with Cuba many many years. Ignorance and pride got in the way.
We better wake up to Cuba soon.

Hard to say where things will go with Russia. With Putin still actually running the country behind Medvedev I see nothing positive any time soon. Nothing is simple in Russia.
