Not a heck of a lot to talk about today. Carolyn looked at another job for a possible bid. That in itself is a rare thing these days. She used to bid on three-to-five jobs a month, now one every three months is exceptional. If she bids on this one, it will make the third this year. With inflation, companies are cleaning their offices using their own people. It saves money as long as no one gets injured while doing janitor chores, because these firms usually don't buy the expensive workman's comp. insurance. If a regular office employee incurs an injury while cleaning, the employer will not be insured and stands to be sued. If that happens, having a professional cleaning service would have been much cheaper and the cleaning in most cases is better done because the regular office employee doesn't want to be there after hours anyway.

I see where one of McCain's advisers has had to step down (fired!) because he called the rest of us "whiners" for complaining about the economy. He was telling the truth, and apparently we are being heard. How can anyone be more out of touch with real people than the Republican Party elite? It was President George W. Bush's fellow Texan and indigenous loud mouth ex-Senator Phil Gramm whom made the remark. He also said Americans are in a "mental recession" instead of an economic one. I bet that son-of-a-bitch hasn't been in a grocery store personally to buy food for his family in decades! What the hell does the stupid bastard know about an economy that working people have to deal with?! His economy is fine! He is wealthy, as are most of the Republican big-wigs. As puppets of big business, all they know how to do is shovel shit on our plates and and we've been pretty good at eating it for the past 40 years!

Phooey!

You'll be happy to know we have a little cleaning service where we work. It is one woman with assorted people helping her. Seems like mostly friends and her husband when he can. They do a great job. Heck I might hire her to do my house.

I was going to blog the other night about how the canidates are allways backing away from what people who work for the are saying.
It really pisses me off. Unless something is so out of bounds then they need to back these people or say nothing. You don't think that Phil Gramm and McCain have had this discussion, you bet they have.

This just like when Gen. Wesley Clark said that because McCain was a POW it does is not a qualification to be President. Then there was a big uproar about this a Obama backed away from the comment. Well I would bet that the two of them had this discussion. The other thing is that Clark is correct.Just because one was a POW does not make him qualified to be President. If that really is the case I am looking for a better qualified POW.

Actually the little mom and pop operations do very well around here, both with good cleaning and getting the places to clean. Problem is, someone like my wife who has a couple of employees has to carry all kinds of insurance, licenses and bonds. She just can't compete with them. In 1997, she had 37 accounts and eight employees working full or part time. Now, she has two regular employees working part time and two more that clean only one building each. She is down to 17 accounts.
At least they haven't made you do the cleaning. And by all means hire her as a housekeeper if possible.

I'm beginning to wonder if the American people know what the qualifications are for being a good president.

Al Gore was (is) more than qualified to be president, I think. But the electorate bought into the fact that he has a "stick in the mud" persona, plus he had to carry the stigma of Bill's blow job.

I once saved a baby bird from being killed by a cat. Should that qualify me to be president because I am compassionate? I play poker without cheating. Elect me because I'm honest!

You are correct; being this or being that doesn't qualify one for president. The whole person has to be looked at. Whom they are married to shouldn't be a factor as long as the spouse isn't a subversive. Neither race, religion, gender, sexual preference, or the fact they may pick their nose while taking a crap should matter to the voter.

As Joe Friday used to say, "Just the facts, madam".
